The Asterid Clade: Summary and Differentiation Spasms, convusions and paralysis are characteristics that are so widespread in the Asterales Clade that in themselvels they have very little differential value. To narrow the enquiry down to any particular Order we need to understand how each group reacts to these problems. The Ericales are excitable but suffer restriction and lameness. They can be cold, lethargic, indifferent and hateful. They are impulsive and can lose control. The Gentianales are sensitive, mentally active and visionary, this combination means their dreams are easily shattered. Then they feel helpless, dull and even paralysed. Like the Gentianales and the Ericales, the Lamiales are visonary, impressionable and easily excited. When hurt they loose their connection with reality and withdraw into trance-like states. The Solanales have an affinity with the Asterales. They are sensitive to voilent attack. Their reaction is convulsive and hysterical. Core Asterales themes: Injury and Shock. The reaction can either be one of numbness and stupor or alternatively, to toughen up and become taciturn and indignant or even cruel. The Apiales also have an affinity with the Asterales - they are attacked by spasmodic shocks. Their reaction is numbness or violence. The Dipsacles also share in these spasmodic attacks, they become disorientated and lost. Thesis: As a rough guide it appears that the strategy of the Asterid Superoder is to paralyse and stupify with fear, whilst the Rosids produce either extremely violent or very defensive states. In the Eudiocts the defence stragey seems to be disorientation.
